Nirvana foi uma banda de grunge fundada no ano de 1986 em Aberdeen (Washington), nos Estados Unidos da América. A sua música foi inspirada no punk rock, no rock alternativo, no hard rock e foi chamada grunge pela imprensa e meios de comunicação da época. O grupo se desfez em 1994 com a morte de seu líder e vocalista, Kurt Cobain.O Nirvana foi considerado a maior banda de rock dos anos 90, além de ser a maior banda grunge da história e uma das maiores da história do rock. Sua canção mais famosa, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” está entre as 20 melhores músicas da história, além de ser considerada a segunda melhor música dos últimos 20 anos.O álbum “Nevermind” (1991), vendeu até 2008 cerca de 25 milhões de cópias. O Nirvana vendeu aproximadamente 60 milhões de álbuns no mundo todo até hoje.
